Dr Bruniges comes to the role with more than 25 years’ experience in the education sector.
She has led the NSW Department of Education since 2011 and has previously held senior roles in the federal department.
“We are delighted at the appointment and commend Dr Bruniges’ breadth of experience, insight and passion for education policy,” Ms Robinson said.
Dr Bruniges will commence her role on 4 April.
