Speaking after the meeting, Universities Australia Chair, Professor Sandra Harding said the meeting was constructive.
“The Minister is fully aware of the range of challenges facing the sector and the critical role that research, innovation and higher education will play in diversifying the economy and building the jobs and knowledge-based industries of the future”, Professor Harding said.
“Universities Australia appreciates the Minister’s willingness to consult with the sector.
“We look forward to continuing to discuss with the Government the public investment and policy framework needed to underpin an internationally competitive higher education system”, said Professor Harding.
