“Our sector has a strong working relationship with the Coalition, and we look forward to that continuing under Ms Ley and Mr Littleproud,” Universities Australia Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.

“Universities are an essential ingredient in our country’s future, delivering the skills, knowledge and innovation our capital cities and regional areas need to grow and prosper.

“I’m eager to work closely with Ms Ley, Mr Littleproud and the entire Coalition team to shape policies that strengthen our sector for the benefit of our nation and, when needed, to hold the government to account.

“Australia needs more of what universities offer, but universities need to be properly supported to deliver.

“As we enter the new term of parliament, I want to encourage all parliamentarians to make universities a policy priority and to afford our sector the bipartisan support it deserves.”
