“Australia’s research system is one of the best in the world. Our researchers produce the cutting-edge ideas our economy and society need,” Universities Australia Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.
“These reforms put strong governance, robust peer review and genuine transparency back at the centre of the ARC.
“Establishing an ARC Board to strengthen the integrity of decision-making processes and limiting interference and delay in the grants process are welcome steps.
“These important measures will ensure our research system is working in the national interest and empowering researchers to continue preparing Australia for the future.
“With thanks to Professor Margaret Sheil AO, Professor Susan Dodds and Professor Mark Hutchinson for their outstanding work on this review, and the Albanese Government for implementing the panel’s recommendations.”
