The test for this Roundtable will be whether it lifts business investment across the economy to boost productivity and drive higher living standards for all Australians.
Investment is needed to deliver everything from faster home builds, through to breakthrough medical research and the energy transition.
Investment in our nation comes from confidence in doing business.
That’s why this week must be about making it easier to do business in Australia – to benefit all Australians.
Together we are calling for:
- Reducing red tape by 25 per cent by 2030
- Improving planning and major project approvals
- Boosting investment and innovation
- Kickstarting productive tax reform that doesn’t raise costs for consumers or businesses
These are areas that will improve business confidence and investment and raise living standards for all Australians.
We must avoid any moves that threaten confidence, including high taxes on business, which will only drive away the investment needed to boost Australian living standards and real wages.
Productivity means working smarter, with better processes, tools and skills, so Australians can spend more time on the things that matter.
This week’s Economic Reform Roundtable is a valuable step towards tackling that challenge, and our Joint Alliance of Industry Associations is united in our commitment to do our part.
