“New Governments typically review the policies of previous Governments, this is appropriate and expected,” said Belinda Robinson, Chief Executive of peak body, Universities Australia.
“It is critical that the impact of policies of this magnitude, as well as its performance against policy objectives, is monitored and assessed,” Ms Robinson said.
In responding to the appointment of The Hon. Dr David Kemp and Mr Andrew Norton, Ms Robinson said: “both Dr Kemp and Mr Norton are well qualified to conduct the review and have considerable expertise in higher education.
“Universities Australia looks forward to working with the review team on better understanding the impact of the demand driven system.
“This includes ensuring that existing and future labour market needs are met and that ability is the only relevant criteria to those with a desire to study at university,” Ms Robinson said.
