Immigration Minister David Coleman officially opened the Global Talent Independent program today alongside some of the country’s top entrepreneurs and scientists.
Universities Australia Chief Executive Catriona Jackson said universities supported the scheme because it complements their own efforts to recruit the best minds globally.
“Strong global engagement is crucial to the success of Australia’s university sector, and to our country’s wider economy,” she said.
“Australian universities are supportive of any scheme that supports Australia’s knowledge economy and enables Australia’s universities to recruit the best and brightest from around the world.”
“Attracting outstanding global talent helps to build industries with lasting jobs for Australians.”
“The sector has consistently worked with Government to continue support for our world-class research enterprise.”
