Now in their third year, the awards recognise exceptional contributions in research, education and community service – from breakthroughs in medical science and climate resilience to empowering students and strengthening local communities.
“Every day, Australia’s universities are tackling our biggest challenges,” Universities Australia Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.
“These awards honour the people driving this nation-building work – people who rarely seek the spotlight but deserve national recognition for their impact.”
Past winners and finalists have supported young entrepreneurs, developed drought-proof crops, improved disability outcomes and driven medical innovations.
Entries are now open across three categories:
- The Problem Solver Award for research that transforms lives.
- The Future Builder Award for exceptional educators shaping the next generation.
- The Community Champion Award for university-led initiatives improving local communities.
Each category will have two winners – one chosen by public vote, the other by a panel of distinguished Australians to be announced shortly.
Submissions close on 5 September 2025.
